We drove to the Rocky Mountain National Park Visitor Center at Beaver Meadows to grab maps and get our passports stamped. Just before stopping we past a campground with some very large elk grazing, but unfortunately did not get a photo.
We started on Bear Lake Road and Moraine Park where the snow covered peaks rise above the thawing valley.
Trail Ridge Road is seasonal and there was still many feet of snow yet to melt past Many Parks Curve Overlook where the road closes.
