Thurmond, West Virginia

Thurmond, West Virginia

Four hundred and sixty-two people called Thurmond, West Virginia home in 1930. That's the largest the town would ever get. Located deep in coal country, it's a time capsule of a boom-town where most structures haven't changed since the 20's.

The bank has been closed since 1931.

The area is now part of the National Parks Service under New River Gorge National Park.
