Mt. Rainier

Mt. Rainier

Snow topped mountains in August is not something us New Yorkers are used to. It was incredible to drive up Paradise Road to the visitor center.

Elbe was the first place we stopped on our way. We needed to fuel up and we were treated with rustic mountain town structures and these awesome rail cars.

Just outside the gate is this really cool log cabin inn.

The road up was long and winding.

You can't tell the scale here, but this is the Nisqually River carving its way down the mountain off the glacier. Some of these rocks are larger than a car. I can't imagine what this looks like during the spring thaw.

I was also able to get a double exposure as Mount Rainier finally showed itself with clouds parting.

We tried to go down Stevens Canyon Road but it had been closed for a while for repairs after a slide. There were many slide areas in this area like the one captured here.
