The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

It may be obvious to some, but the Yellowstone River got its name from the yellow color of the sandstone and rock in the area. I falsely assumed the color was from the abundance of sulfur but have come to learn that it's actually due to the high iron content. It's rust.

We traveled to Artists Point, Lookout Point, and Inspiration Point for the following views.

Loved that I caught these two shoulders. It's one of my favorite shots from Yellowstone.

The dark orange color just above the water line is amazing.
