Riverside Railroad on PORTRA 160 Large Format Film

Riverside Railroad on PORTRA 160 Large Format Film

Near the Port of Rochester is a picturesque riverfront with some small shops, restaurants, marina, and railroad. I brought the 4x5 down and tried for a bit of symmetry and it came out pretty well. I didn't quite account for the cropping on the right hand side, so I'll just have to back up a bit next time!

I just love the amount of detail from a 4x5 negative.

If you haven't tried large format film photography I highly recommend you give it a go. It's a lot of fun and the inherently slower process is, I find, very rewarding.

I have shared the experience a few times with Kodak Camera Club participants and look forward to being able to do that again sometime soon.

The post below is from one such large format workshop I organized with photographer Jason Lee two years ago.
