So there is this conference, only it's not really a conference. It's more like a confluence of ideas, people, experiences, opportunities, and so much more. It's called Yeah Field Trip. Oh, you might make some photographs while you're there too. Maybe even silkscreen your own t-shirt too. One thing is for sure though. You will learn. You will learn about yourself, others, creativity, technology, anti-technology, life, death, happiness, sadness, motivation, frustration, and on and on the list goes.
It's something that has been on my radar for a couple years now as a creative and something I personally wanted to attend. Jump back to January of 2018 and I am at Kodak's CES booth when in walks Whitney Chamberlin. He caught me in our social media "dugout" in the booth and flashed that trademark smile as he introduced himself. I immediately returned smile realizing I was talking to the mastermind behind Yeah Field Trip. He would probably characterize himself more as a facilitator, but I'd like to give credit where credit is due.
Jump ahead to February and I'm entering the canyon to represent Kodak and take the amazing resources provided to craft my own "once in a lifetime" experience. Little did I know how true that would be. Yeah Field Trip announced it would no longer be calling the canyon home. The 2019 incarnation will take place in Marfa, Texas.
I'll never forget the people I met and the things I learned. I wish I had a larger vocabulary to articulate all the nuances of the experience, but I think it would be meaningless to anyone reading this; meaningless in that it was my experience. You should go and create your own! In fact, here's the link: Register for Marfa. So again, instead of writing a whole bunch I'll simply provide visual evidence in the form of photographs and motion pictures all captured on KODAK film.
