Behind the Scenes - How Kodak Makes Film - Part 1

One day I got a phone call from my friend Josh who owns Indie Film Lab. He asked if I thought Kodak would be up for having some folks come through and make a video about Kodak's film manufacturing process. If you've been around me for a minute, you know I will always be the first person in line willing to help tell the world about the amazing things that go on here at Kodak.

When I found out it was Smarter Every Day, I knew they would be perfect at demystifying the complex concepts. Destin is great at creating content that is both educational and entertaining. I find the hands on learning sections are great in helping to visualize concepts.

I pitched the idea internally and coordinated the two days of filming. A couple months later I was greeting Destin and Trent at the parking gate at Kodak Center here in Rochester. I'll let the video take it from here!

It was an absolute pleasure to help shine a light on some of the most amazing people in the world. Seeing the ins and outs of ESTAR™ manufacturing was incredible. I learned so much and I've been on this tour a whole bunch of times. I can't wait to see the next two parts covering sensitizing and finishing. I think it's going to blow your mind!

While assisting I also shot a bunch of photos on film that were used in the video. These were captured on PORTRA.
