Another great breakfast greeted us in the morning as we checked out of the Fairholm. We spent some time at the Confederation Center for some shopping before we made our way for the eastern end of PEI. On our way out of town, we dropped by the local Harley dealer, Red Rocks. They had some beautiful bikes, including one of the police cruiser series. Forgive my motorcycle ignorance, all I know is what I like, and I definitely liked that one! We picked up some Christmas presents and continued on our way to eastern PEI. Lunch was a fantastic sub at Subway on our way out of town. We headed to the Buffaloland Provincial Park to take in the buffalo grazing on a preserve, as they were given to Canada as a present, to roam forever free. It was amazing seeing the animals up close. They were huge! There were even a few baby buffalo, and they were extremely cute. You could tell they had a protector within the heard, as this one large buffalo moved toward us at first to put itself somewhat in front of the rest. It stood there staring at us the entire time. I was thankful for the fence that separated us. As slow as they seem, I would still not want to come face to face with one. We hopped back in the car and swung down to the south to the Rossignol Estates Winery. We met a really nice girl by the name of Megan who showed us all around the winery, through the bottling process, and even a little tangent into what folks in PEI and Canada think of George Bush. That certainly made for good conversation! We sampled about six or seven different winesall very flavorful and sweet. Matt had maple, pinot cabernet, and another. Meg tried raspberry, strawberry, and another. We finally settled on a white wine to buy. We wanted to buy more, but we knew we woulnt be able to drink it all before we left to go back to Rochester. We said good-bye to Megan and swung down to two lighthouses on the southeastern end of the island at Beach Point. The area was very sparse, so the only place we could find to eat was, of course, another Tim Hortons back up in Montague. Luckily it wasnt too far away, so we had plenty of time. On schedule, the road took us to Wood Island where we were to catch the ferry to Nova Scotia. There were a few small lighthouses and cool channel markers that we were able to get some pictures of. Having never been on a ferry before, at least to the best of our knowledge, it was quite an interesting experience. You drive up this long ramp to the car level, which is above the truck level. It was quite a large boat. We didnt know it, but we werent supposed to stay in the car. We looked at the photos we had captured so far, and browsed through some from the wedding as well. It helped take our mind off of the rocking of the boat a bit. We then got out of the car and tried to find our way up to the passenger level. It took a little while to figure out how to open the pressure locked doors, but then we made our way up. It was rocking pretty good from side to side. We both realized that we prefer the bridge, as long as it was, to the ferry any time! After arriving in Nova Scotia, we made our way to our lodgings in Trurro for the night.
