After a nice breakfast, we packed up the car and headed for the big city! We had heard multiple radio ads for an end of the season sale going on at the Charlottetown Civic Center, and since it was kind of rainy out, we decided to give it a look see. It was another bargain shoppers dream as we walked through all the clothing, house wares, and other items marked down. Meg and I made a purchase at the Roots store, and then headed on into the rest of town. Its a beautiful city that retains much of the Victorian style waterfront, with some newer buildings and shopping areas up town. We stopped in Anne of Green Gables Chocolates and bought ourselves a bag of chocolate covered PEI potato chips, grabbed delicious paninis for lunch at a fun little boutique called Just Us Girls, and checked out two book stores. As it was Sunday, a lot of the city was closed. Its interesting coming from the states where the majority of the shopping is done on the weekends. We then checked into the beautiful five star Fairholm Inn, where the luxuriously huge bedroom and marble bathroom with Jacuzzi tub awaited us. Its on the registry for national historic places in Canada, and deservingly so! We got settled before heading down to the waterfront where Lobster on the Wharf was waiting to serve us up some delicious fresh PEI lobster. This is now Megs favorite seafood dish! Nothing like getting it right off the boat and onto your plate! After that, we took out all the stops and splurged for Dairy Queen! It was interesting, as the DQ was very close to the university, and there were many students there. We both got Blizzards and enjoyed them very much. On our way out I noticed a sign across the way was wishing a fellow Happy Birthday. What made it unusual and hilarious was under the birthday wishes, it read Keep dying that hair bud! This was right on the main artery to downtown. Hilarious! We headed back to our room in time to catch Desperate Housewives and a little news before calling it a night.
