Waking up to the smells of fresh bred, eggs, homefries, and other assorted breakfast goodies was fantastic! We ate our fair share before packing up and checking out. We’ll definitely have to visit the Gillespie House again. We went into town to pick up a few items we had left behind on our trip and to check out a little more of the local flavor. On the road again, we made our way north and into New Brunswick. We stopped at a small fishing town called Port Elgin where we found a small crafts and second hand store. We got a few more items and packed them up for our trip across the Confederation Bridge. Just before the bridge, we saw a sign for a used book store. We tracked it down, but unfortunately it was closed. It looked huge, so it’s a shame. Next time! Just before the bridge was a visitor center where we stepped out to take some pictures and take in the enormity of the bridge. It really is huge, and beautiful. Up we went across the entire span. We were treated to a bit of a light show as the sun was peaking through the clouds and danced a bit on the water many many feet below us. We reached the other side where a welcome center was constructed. We checked out the gift shop, purchased some items for family and friends, and of course, dressed up as Anne and Matthew from the famed Anne of Green Gables. Once our trip to Make Believe was over, we drove to our next Bed and Breakfast in French River called The Beach House Inn. It’s perched on a hill above the outlet to the ocean for the fishing village below. As luck would have it, or perhaps some careful planning, there was a lighthouse at the end of the road that offered some great pictures. We checked in to our honeymoon sweet, complete with red claw foot tub, and filled the mini fridge with the beer we bought the day before. As is customary, most restaurants around the B&B closed early, so we drove into Summerside to enjoy a nice meal across the street from the College of Piping at the Brothers Two. I had the salmon and Meg had chicken cordon bleu. We got to spin the wheel after and won a buy one get one free coupon. We’ll be sure to return when we’re back in town in a couple days! Stuffed and tired, we returned to our room and crashed for the night.
