We ate breakfast, and after a mild issue with the bill we were off for Parrsboro. Where’s Parrsboro you say? Well, it’s on the north side of the Bay of Fundy, with beautiful rock cliffs and fishing villages. On our route, we passed through the town of Truro, which boasts an area to view the tidal bore, which is what happens when the high tide returns to the bay and runs up the rivers that feed into it. Basically, it creates waves that can travel up river for many kilometers… yeah, I said kilometers! We moved on towards Parrsboro, but took a tangent to a back road that led to a beautiful area of the cliffs that had been cut out by the bay waters. In the middle stood a huge rock with about six trees competing for what little room there was on top of it. Back on the main drag, we stopped in Parrsboro for lunch at the Gloosecap Restaurant, and then continued on toward Cape d’Or. Before reaching Cape d’Or, we stopped at Shaw Country Market, which was actually an old social hall that still had the markings in the upstairs hall. Very cool indeed. We checked out some designs, paintings, and crafts by artists in the area. We picked up a few gifts, some food, beverages, and a little conversation with the owners who were busy readying the store for the Christmas season. It was very nice, and well worth the stop. Another tangent off the main road took us in search of a gift shop by the name of Stars Moon and Sun. Turns out it was closed, but we did find another cool spot for picnicking with another lighthouse. We finally reached Cape d’Or and proceeded up the sometimes steep, but always very rough, dirt road that lead to the lighthouse. We thought we would be the only people on the road in such bad weather and at this time of season, but we were pleasantly surprised to see them doing end of season construction. Ok, so there were two other people out there! After viewing the lighthouse from the lookout point, we headed back to Parrsboro to check in to the Gillespie House Inn. We had a beautiful room with a claw foot tub and queen bed. We went out to dinner at Stowaways, which was pretty decent. After, we returned to the inn and changed into pajamas and headed down to the sitting room with the fireplace going to spend some time online and chat with some other guests from England. After a bit, we took our tired bodies to bed after a long day of sight seeing.
