We flew out of Rochester on a tiny puddle jumper plane. There was one row of seats on each side of the plane, and no flight stewardess. We ate McDonald’s breakfast before we left Rochester though. Meg slept on the first flight. In Toronto, we went through customs, which was WAY too easy, then we ran to find out where our gate was. We finally got on the plane, and we looked out the window while we were flying. Matt pointed out where Oswego was. We also looked at the interactive map on the screen in front of us, it showed where the plane was on the map. Meg fell asleep some more. The plane was a bit bumpy as we were landing, but other then that, it was not too bad—only took us 1 hour, 36 minutes to get there! We waited around for a bit to get our baggage and then went to get out rental car. We had reserved (online) for a compact car, and they told us that the only compact cars that they had were PT Cruisers. So we decided to upgrade and get a Chevy Malibu instead—very nice choice indeed—all of our luggage barely fit in the Malibu, let alone the PT Cruiser! We drove into Halifax (about 20 miles) and then drove around the city for a bit before breaking out the map and finding our hotel (The Citadel). After a few mishaps with the front desk manager, we were able to check in and get up to our hotel room. We called our parents to let them know that we had made it safely, and then Meg changed into warmer clothes. It was time to eat dinner, so we headed to downtown, Halifax and parked in the Cable Wharf parking lot (PS—it is expensive to pay for parking like this!!). We decided to grab a bite to eat at Stayner’s Wharf—each getting bread/hummus/balsamic & vinegar for an appetizer, before finishing a delicious order of fish and chips. Matt tried a local brew there as well—an Andrew Keith Red (it was like a Killian’s, but better). We splurged on dessert, a cookie/ice cream creation, before hitting the wharf to walk off what we just ate. It was all very good though. Matt ended up taking a lot of cool night shots of the wharf lit up at night. It was freezing cold though, and shortly there after, we decided to head back to our hotel, as we were not properly bundled up for the weather! We went back to our hotel, put our pj’s on, and watched TV before calling it a night!
